Wood St. Catastrophe

On Sunday morning @ 5:00AM, Doug got a call from Gary(his dad) that their house was flooded.
This is the culprit that caused it all. The water supply to the toilet on the main floor had come off during the night and flooded 3 rooms and a hallway on the main floor. Then, the watered went into the basement, soaking racks of clean cloths, all Patty's sowing equipment, and Doug's spare computer parts.

The living room floor being torn up....
The bathroom floor, where the worst damage was done.
Torn up floor, carpet, and subflooring...
Cabinets and all will have to be torn up in the bathroom. The wallpaper is all warped as well.
The cleaning crew was there by 6:30 to start repairing the damage!
Mulling it over...
Gary in his essence :) This is how he is most comfortable.

What a week....

First of all, Friday night was the last movie night of the year for the Ladies Ministry. Marcia & DeLea being silly...

After movie night, Mom and I headed up to the camper because the Ladies Ministry Team was coming up for a meeting and then to go on the lake. Our keys would not unlock the door and by this time is was 11:00 at night and we were not turning around to head back to Freeport!! So, luckily mom keeps the silverware in a container on the porch. I found a butter knife and broke into the camper, only minor damage to the door... Future Job picking locks?!?
Our esteemed Ministry Team.....they must all be a kid at heart!
Papa came up after the meeting to be our boating chauffeur. He needed a nap first though...
Doug had firefighter training on Fri & Sat at the Monroe Fire School. They simulated someone going through a collapsed floor and then pulling them out by tying a rope around their arms and hauling them up.... This is what Doug's arm looks like from the rope....
Sadie loves squeaker animals. Tags have to be eaten off first, then beaks or tails, and the stuffing had to come out of lamby. This is what they look like after she's done with them...

"HELP US!"
Sadie has a major sweettooth! When we went through Lena the other weekend, we stopped at the drive-in and they brought her a cup of ice cream. Dairy Queen has puppy cups when you go through the drive thru. So, last night she had to have a puppy cup! She LOVES ice cream!

A few new pics

School starts Monday and I am not thrilled about that!! :P Here's just a few pics from the last couple days.

Jon & Alyse got married. Alyse was my roommate in college.

How Sadie spends part of her day. Nothing happens on our street that she does not know about.
Met Sally and the kids for lunch at the park. I told Gabby that pink & red don't go together, byut what does Aunt Brandy know? Took Sadie for a walk too.

We fed the ducks some hotdog buns. Sadie tried to go through the fence to eat the ducks who were eating the hotdog buns.
Daisy is a dog in Sadie's obedience class. Isn't she cute?!
No stuffed animal lasts long in our house. Sadie killed lambie and found her prize, the squeaker.
Her safe haven is her kennel. She goes right in without being told and sleeps. Especially when she is tired from obedience class.

Camping

Doug, Sadie, and I went up to Apple Canyon this weekend by ourselves. We went out on the lake late on Friday night.

On Saturday morning, Doug cooked breakfast on the fire. Then we went back out on the lake.
Sadie enjoyed all the smells of the woods.

Sadie enjoyed the water after she got used to it. The lake is a little deeper than her kiddie pool!

How did you get your food?

After several days of showing Sadie how to get food out of her Kong ball, she finally got it.

We are going up to the lake next weekend. We wanted a lifevest for her until she figured out how to swim. She doesn't seem to mind the vest much.

2 Trips to the ER

Doug and I were still sleeping peacefully in bed when the first phone call rang. It was Patty, Gary was in the ER. His throat was closing, he couldn't speak, breath, or swallow via his throat. (He could breathe through his nose, thankfully.) The Dr. believes it is an allergic reaction to one of his meds that he has been on for at least 4 years. Easy problem to solve...switch to different med.

Phone call #2. I was filling Sadie's pool when Sally calls. "Hey, I'm in the ER. Want to come hang out with me?" She thought she had strep throat: soar throat, bumps, and red. Turns out some of her lymph tissue had a reaction to something. A prescription for nasal spray and out of the ER.

I am always so thankful when the trips to the ER are like this. Simple. An easy prescription fix.

If anyone ever needs an ER buddy, I am happy to sit and listen and ask questions to the Dr's. Remember: All bleeding stops eventually!

Hugs, Brandy

RRRrrrrrr

Doug went to Detroit, MI for some training for work. He got done early today and was going to go home. He checked out of the hotel and headed for his work van. Could he find his work van? NOPE! It was stolen out of the hotel parking lot last night! AH! Worst part, his firefighter gear was in there! You would think if robbers saw that they would think, hmmm, firefighters might someday save me when my meth lab blows up and I'm burning to death.....But no, let's just steal it anyway. I would let them die in their meth lab. :) Yes, I hold grudges. Can ya tell? RAH!!! Stupid people or dumb sheep?
